Studs & Duds - Week 10

A look at our Week 9 predictions.

Studs

Matt Holliday had a fairly good week, not great, but still a stud. 2 home runs, 5 rbis, 4 runs and a .357 average. A nice week.

Richie Sexson came up with a big week. His .333 average will make owners happy but even more are the 7 rbis to go along with 2 home runs.

Ryan Braun didn’t have a studly week, but it was productive. 5 runs scored, 1 home run, 1 stolen base and 3 rbis are all good. The .240 average was not so great.

Duds

I sure was wrong on my predicition for Ryan Zimmerman. He hit 2 home runs and drove in 8. He also scored 6 runs with a .261 average.

Carlos Quentin fell back this past week. 2 runs scored, 2 runs knocked in and no home runs all while hitting .167.

Nick Markakis had a week that most owners would be ok with, some parts good some not so much. His 7 rbis and 1 home run were good. The .200 average is what prevented him from doing more.

Well I was only dead wrong on one pick and right on 3.

Studs

These guys will be putting up some big numbers in Week 10.

Vladamir Guerrero has been a monster at the plate, and this week he will continue. Look for big numbers at the end of the week when he travels to St. Louis.

Prince Fielder gets to feast on Cubs and Rangers pitching this week. And everyone can tell he is made for feasting.

C.C. Sabathia will get two starts this week against struggling teams, Kansas City and Cincinnati. His owners should expect 2 wins at 15+ strikeouts.

Duds

These guys will not….

Dan Wheeler has been struggling and Brad Lidge is looking to take back the closer role. If this happens this week, Wheeler will loose almost all value unless you are in a very deep league.

Derek Jeter hasn’t put up the numbers expected as of late. He faces two good starting staffs this week in Chicago and Pittsburgh. The turmoil that is the Yankees may be too much right now for Jeter.

No week could go without picking a guy who will be facing the Padres staff. Adrian Beltre is currently sitting with a wrist injury and is expected back for the Padres series. That pitching staff will be too much for to handle right off the injury.
