Shaun’s 2008 3B
Top Tier
Cabrera
Wright
Braun
In what used to be the black hole of fantasy baseball, 3B has once again added some more depth and talent to the ongoing list of productive fantasy players. Wright put together another successful season and Braun was the pick up of the year in ’07. He just never let down and secured his position as an early round draft pick in all formats. Cabrera has moved to a park similar in nature to that of Florida, but the lineup in Detroit should improve some of his totals overall.
Mid Top
Ramirez
Zimmerman
Jones
Lowell
Atkins
Figgins
Encarnacion
Again, another solid group of top tier players and where some real value picks can be had. Expect bigger numbers for Zimmerman this year in a new park with more favorable dimensions. Also, after some flip flopping and getting his mind in order, Encarnacion appears to have put it all together in the second half of last year.
Adequate
Beltre
Gordon
Longoria
Blake
Kouzmanoff
DeRosa
Youkilis
Feliz
Inge
With such a talent pool and so many good 3B, these are some guys who will fill your Utility void and could replace injured players. There is nothing terribly interesting on this list with the exception of Gordon, Longoria and Kouzmanoff. Gordon got through his first full season with less than stellar numbers but has the talent to become a solid player. Longoria has been touted as the number one prospect in all of baseball and should see some definite time with Rays this season. Kouzmanoff is another guy everyone would be familiar with if he didn’t play for the Padres and if he was not a 3B.
